#133 - Born Again Fiend - in A Cabin In The Woods
Posting this page always made me nervous because of what a massive jerk Xzak is being here, in a way that a lot or previous emotionally charged pages hadn't. Hence my dragging my feet here, in spite of the fact that I'm pretty sure youseall get this literal Fiend isn't supposed to be a "good guy".
I just want square away right off the bat where I stand-- I am firmly on the side of LGBTQIA+ rights, and I am fortunate to have known and befriended so many people from that community who have been reading my comics over the years. A lot of interactions in this comic are deeply personal... things that have been on my mind, awkward encounters with people in the past... for the record, I was on Zeno's end of the question of "What are you?" in the past.
So, you know how uncomfortable it is looking at some movies with "cool" 90's protagonists that act like complete a-holes and you wonder why it was considered acceptable for them to be like this? Yeah, as kids a lot of things went over our heads, and confronting that later as an adult can be a bit awkward. I tried watching clips from a comedy show I had fond memories of as a child, and some of the skits were YIKES.
Menu is a child and a lot flies over his head, so when Xzak asked him to think about "cool" people, Xzak looked through his mind into all the media he has watched.
